Week 10 History Essay
What were the lessons in marketing, salesmanship, and entrepreneurship that you learned this week from the Islamic inventor? Name the inventor, what the lesson was, and how he implemented it.
The Islamic inventor that I liked the most this week is Al-Hazen. He was a Persian scientist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher that lived between 965-1040 AD. The lesson I learned in entrepreneurship from him is that he went against the science of the time, and found that light does not come out of our eyes, but it actually bounces off objects and comes into our eyes. He combined the work of Al-kindi, the theory of intromission, and geometry all together to form a new theory on vision. He also wrote 200 books about his ideas and accomplishments and experiments. His experiments and his books showed how he marketed and sold his theories and ideas. The lesson I learned from him is to not always believe what other people say is “true”, and find out the answers for myself.
