Week 2 History Essay
What are some ways that new military inventions shape the outcome of a war, and why?
Weapons and other military inventions are very important in war. Usually, whichever side has the better weapons and inventions is the side that will win the war. For example, once the lens was used as part of a gun to be able to see farther and aim better, this invention changed how far people had to be away from each other to shoot during battle. Another example would be warships. Before warships were invented, there were no sea battles. After warships were made, the military could now have a navy that attacked from the water, but they could carry soldiers and cargo to many places much easier and faster. Also, before swords were invented during the Bronze Age, men used spears, daggers, axes, and other weapons like these. The sword eventually became a weapon that could slash, chop, and spear through the enemy, which could replace many of the other weapons that were used. Of course, once guns came along, they replaced pretty much all of the other weapons.
