Week 27 History Essay

This week I learned about the flying shuttle, the marine chronometer, Anders Celsius, and the Leyden jar. The flying shuttle was invented by John Kay in 1733. It is a spindle-shaped device used to carry the crosswise threads, and a medical device used for weaving. The marine chronometer was invented by John Harrason in 1735. It was used to determine longitude at sea (It is a type of clock). Anders Celsius was a Swedish astronomer, physicist, and mathematician. He was a professor of astronomy at Uppsala University. He made the Celsius temperature scale. The Leyden jar was invented by Petrus Van Mussenbroek and Ewald Georg Von Kliest in 1745. It is an electrical component that stores a high-voltage electric charge. It led to the advancement of the battery. Those are the inventions and people that I learned about this week. My favorite was the flying shuttle because I did not know that it was for weaving.
