Week 28 History Essay

This week I learned about the lead chamber process, the spinning jenny, Richard Arkwrite, and James Watt. The lead chamber process was invented by John Roebuck in 1746. It is an obsolete method of making sulfuric acid by the catalytic oxidation of sulfur dioxide with air using potassium nitrate. The spinning jenny was invented by John Roebuck in 1746. It is a machine for making wool and cotton. It allowed one spinner to produce a hundred threads at once. Richard Arcwrite was an English inventor, who lived 1723-1792. He is most known for his invention of the spinning frame and the water frame. James Watt was an English inventor and a mechanical engineer, who lived 1736-1819. He invented the sun and planet gears and the method for copying papers. He also improved the steam engine. Those are the things that I learned about this week. My favorite was the spinning jenny because I thought it was interesting that it was used for making wool and cotton.
