Week 29 History Essay

This week I learned about soda water, Joseph Priestley, the weighing scale, and the boring machine. Soda water was invented by Joseph Priestley in 1776. It is carbonated plain water with carbon dioxide. It improves the flavor of water. Joseph Priestly was an English chemist and natural philosopher who lived 1733-1804. He discovered oxygen which made him invent soda water. The weighing scale was invented by Ancient Egyptians in 3100 B.C. It is a device used to measure weight or mass. The boring machine was invented by John Wilkinson in 1774. It is used to drill holes, and it was used on James Watt’s steam engine. Those are the things that I learned about today. My favorite was the soda water, because I thought it was very interesting to learn about the bubbles and how you make it.
