Week 3 History Essay
How do new building tools impact architecture (building size and shape)?
The invention of tools has changed how people build buildings. For example, when the crane was invented, people were able to build taller buildings and skyscrapers. The crane allowed building materials to be lifted much higher. Another example would be a hammer and nails. Even though these tools have been around for a very long time, people are able to make the structure of buildings much stronger. Screws and screwdrivers do the same thing, but screws can be used in steel also. Very tall buildings are made with steel instead of wood. Even the invention of glass changed how buildings could be made. People could have windows and glass doors in their homes and other buildings. There are even whole buildings made of steel and windows. Now, the new tool is a 3D printer. With this machine, people can pretty much print anything, even houses. In fact, the town I live in just hired a 3D printing company to build a bunch of new houses that are more affordable.
