Week 30 History Essay
This week I learned about the parachute, selective breeding, electrolysis, and the threshing machine. The parachute was invented in France by Louis-Sebastien Lenormorand in 1783. It allowed people and objects to be safely dropped from above. Selective breeding was invented by Robert Bakewell in the 19th century. It is choosing parents with particular characteristics to breed together to produce offspring. Electrolysis was invented by Michael Faraday in 1785. A current is passed through a substance to effect a chemical change. The threshing machine was invented by Andew Meikle in 1788. It is a machine that separates wheat from chaff. Those are the things that I learned about this week. My favorite was the threshing machine, because it was so fascinating how it works.
