Lesson 22-Observing Mosquitos
Mosquitos are the deadliest creatures on the planet. They weigh 2 ½ milligrams, and they carry diseases like malaria, West Nile Virus, Dengue Fever, and Chikungunya. All of these diseases kill hundreds of thousands of people every year. Mosquitos, actually female mosquitos, suck blood from people and animals. If the blood has a disease, the mosquito carries the disease to another person or animals and infects them when they bite. Mosquitos have a head, a thorax, and an abdomen, which is what carries the blood. They suck blood with their proboscis, which is like a long, needle mouth. They lay their eggs on the water, kind of like a raft. Some mosquitos lay eggs that can last for 5 years before hatching. I do not like mosquitos at all, especially after learning about them today.
