Lesson 47: Observing Snowy Owls
Snowy owls are fascinating creatures. They weigh over 6 lb, and have a wingspan of 5 ft long. They have lots of feathers to keep them warm. Female snowy owls have dark spots, male snowy owls are almost all white. Young snowy owls have dark spots too, but they get whiter as they age. They eat rodents, fish, and other birds. They migrate south for the winter, but they have to compete with other birds like eagles and falcons to find food. That is what I learned about snowy owls. I think they were very interesting.
