Lesson 51: Observing Mallard Ducks

Today, I learned about mallard ducks. Mallard ducks are a type of bird in the duck family. They are also known as the dabbling ducks. That means they lean forward in the water to eat vegetation and seeds. The male ducks are called drakes, and they have green heads and brown bodies. The females are called ducks, and they are all brown. When the ducklings hatch, they stay one night in the nest and in the morning they jump out of the tree. These are the coolest things I learned about mallard ducks.
